It is natural to seek the lowest cost when we make business purchases. Not many people will knowing pay more for a product, without added benefit. Clearly, many factors might add value. Things such as convenience, delivery time, accuracy of orders, terms, etc. Are there also less tangible things that might add value but be harder to recognize.

For instance, do the working conditions provided by the vendor to their staff, add value to a client's purchases?

I feel it would work because people like to affiliate themselves with success and an pleasant work environment portrays success. I don't know that people in general look at working conditions and say to themselves: "they treat their staff nice, so I'll buy there".

Nice topic, Louis, as always.

Later, Matt.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I agree, people do not say, "They treat their staff nice, so I'll buy there." Rather I think they say, I am always treated well when I go there. Their staff is always pleasant and helpful. They always get my order right. I enjoy seeing the same faces everytime I go in. They have great service, I like these folks, etc.

Aside from being the right thing to do, treating staff members very well just makes good business sense, in my opinion.
