I was once asked, why I spend so much time posting on management forums? The answer is simple and in my own self interest. If I can help the trade to be better, in any way, I too will be better as a part of the trade.
For instance, a common complaint I have is the low quality of replacement parts available. They are so prevalent because there is a demand for them. I feel the demand is largely from shops that do not realize the true cost of using such parts. Perhaps if the true cost can be demonstrated, the demand for higher quality parts will increase and I will do better as will everyone else.
There are no guarantees, but it may be better to light one little candle . . . How about you, why not share the hard learned lessons? It might help someone else and perhaps help you as well.

Thanks Jason, I truly appreciate your comments. It is in my own best interest to work to improve the field, in any way I can. We have many great shop owners and techs here, with worlds of experience. The more we each contribute, the better things might be for everyone. It may seem like a small contribution, but improvement is incremental. We can each make the trade a better place, if we contribute a very little each day.
