Recently a shop owner was doing a tour of our shop. Noticing the large assortment of brake components sitting on a cart, he asked what they were for. These are the parts for the brake repair we have scheduled today. He asked, “How many ‘brake jobs’ do you do a day?” “None,” I answered, we don’t do brake jobs. A bit puzzled, he continued, then why all the brake parts? We do a considerable amount of brake repair, I just don’t know what a ‘brake job’ is.
I was only being a tiny bit facetious, the fact is, we repair brake problems. What this will require depends on the nature of the problem. I know of no service that will fill the bill. Sometimes it involves replacement of the brake pads and lubrication of the caliper slides. Other times a complete rebuild of the system. Each vehicle is different and each gets what it requires.
But, you have to have a ‘brake job!” Why? Because everyone else does. Isn’t that the best reason to offer something different?
